JAMB has disclosed that the printing of 2019 JAMB Exam Slip would commence March 2nd, 2019; that is two weeks before the examination.
The reprinted slips will bear candidates schedule for the examination: date, time and centre as well as other necessary information about the examination.
Please be informed that the closing date for JAMB 2019 UTME Registration Still remains 21st February. Ensure to register before then, if you have not already done so, as there will be no extension of this deadline.
Correct Author’s Name for Sweet Sixteen; Abdullai or Abdullahi
There have been controversies over the correct name of the Author for the Official JAMB Novel for the coming UTME; “SWEET SIXTEEN”.
Since the Novel was confirmed by JAMB at the beginning of registration, various versions of the Author’s Name have popped up; So can we spell it as “Abdullai” or “Abdullahi”, if it comes out in the exam? The difference in name is the letter “H”. We want to put an end to this confusion right now.
First of all, it’s important to note that the version released by JAMB to test candidates in the coming UTME is a slimmer or summary version of the original version composed by the Author. The original version has 157 pages, while the version released by JAMB has only 53 pages. The confusion stems from the fact that there are two versions of the book with one bearing “Bolaji Abdullai” and the other bearing Bolaji “Abdullahi”.
In the original version, the Author’s name is written as “Bolaji Abdullai”, while the version by JAMB is written as “Bolaji Abdullahi”.
Although they sound similar, the difference is the letter “H” in the JAMB Version.
Since FIRSTFEB COMPUTER does not believe the Author would make a mistake in his own name stated in the original version, it is safe to say that JAMB made a mistake in the Author’s name. Oh yes, JAMB makes mistakes too.
Based on these findings, we hope JAMB does not test candidates to state the name of the Author in the coming exams. Even if they do, we hope they don’t bring out the two varying names as options, rather we expect them to place other Authors in the options.
Be that as it may, if you’re confronted with a question where the two varying names are placed as options for you to select the Author’s Name, please select the name that appears on the JAMB Version of the Novel, which is Sweet Sixteen by Bolaji Abdullahi.
So you now know what option to pick if you see the question; “Who is the Author of the book, Sweet sixteen?”.
We’re exactly two weeks into Registration for the 2019 JAMB UTME. That means you have 4 weeks left to register for the 2019 UTME. This mean Registration ends 21st February, 2019. Please, we want to ensure everyone is duly registered, so please check all the information, tools and resources you require about the registration and beyond.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on Thursday
applauded the Federal Government for reducing the cost of JAMB and UTME
form fees for final year secondary school and post-secondary school
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government,
after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, announced the
reduction in JAMB form fees from N5, 000 to N3, 500 for the Unified
Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).ADVERTISEMENT
The Senior Secondary Certificate charged by National Examination
Council (NECO) has been reduced from 11,350 to N9, 850 and Basic
Education Certificate handled by NECO, N5, 500 to N4, 000.
The reductions take effect from January, 2019.ADVERTISEMENT
“NANS considers this decision as a good and progressive minded one,’’
NANS National Public Relations Officer, Mr Bestman Okereafor, said in a
statement issued in Enugu on Thursday.
Okereafor, however, urged the Federal Government to prioritise the
issue of education and especially the ongoing ASUU/COEASU strike.
According to him, the strike has truncated the chances of “some of
our compatriots graduating in 2018, simply because the academic calendar
has been altered. “
“NANS considers this decision as a good and progressive minded one,
but strongly believes that resolving the ongoing ASUU/COEASU strikes
would be better.
“We are of the opinion that schools must be made conducive for all students on campuses as it was in the days of old.
The association noted that many students were admitted without assurance
of smooth sail throughout the expected period of study, “as we now have
students spending six years for a four- year course. “
“The Presidency must consider making our campuses a conducive atmosphere for learning and research purposes.
“It is highly disheartening that we have lost quite a handful of
young, hardworking and promising Nigerian students to the cold hands of
death due to the ongoing strike.
“Even as some of our students are now been exposed to various crimes,
and drugs. For an idle hand they say is the devil’s workshop.’’
Okereafor, however, appealed to the leadership of ASUU not to
frustrate the process of negotiation with the Federal Government, rather
consider suspending the strike in the best interest of all.
According to it, the ongoing strike has done more harm than good to students.

The goal of this new editor is to make adding rich content to WordPress simple and enjoyable. This whole post is composed of pieces of content—somewhat similar to LEGO bricks—that you can move around and interact with. Move your cursor around and you’ll notice the different blocks light up with outlines and arrows. Press the arrows to reposition blocks quickly, without fearing about losing things in the process of copying and pasting.
What you are reading now is a text block the most basic block of all. The text block has its own controls to be moved freely around the post…
… like this one, which is right aligned.
Headings are separate blocks as well, which helps with the outline and organization of your content.
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Handling images and media with the utmost care is a primary focus of the new editor. Hopefully, you’ll find aspects of adding captions or going full-width with your pictures much easier and robust than before.
Try selecting and removing or editing the caption, now you don’t have to be careful about selecting the image or other text by mistake and ruining the presentation.
The Inserter Tool
Imagine everything that WordPress can do is available to you quickly and in the same place on the interface. No need to figure out HTML tags, classes, or remember complicated shortcode syntax. That’s the spirit behind the inserter—the (+) button you’ll see around the editor—which allows you to browse all available content blocks and add them into your post. Plugins and themes are able to register their own, opening up all sort of possibilities for rich editing and publishing.
Go give it a try, you may discover things WordPress can already add into your posts that you didn’t know about. Here’s a short list of what you can currently find there:
Text & Headings
Images & Videos
Embeds, like YouTube, Tweets, or other WordPress posts.
Layout blocks, like Buttons, Hero Images, Separators, etc.
And Lists like this one of course 🙂
A huge benefit of blocks is that you can edit them in place and manipulate your content directly. Instead of having fields for editing things like the source of a quote, or the text of a button, you can directly change the content. Try editing the following quote:
The editor will endeavor to create a new page and post building experience that makes writing rich posts effortless, and has “blocks” to make it easy what today might take shortcodes, custom HTML, or “mystery meat” embed discovery.
Matt Mullenweg, 2017
The information corresponding to the source of the quote is a separate text field, similar to captions under images, so the structure of the quote is protected even if you select, modify, or remove the source. It’s always easy to add it back.
Blocks can be anything you need. For instance, you may want to add a subdued quote as part of the composition of your text, or you may prefer to display a giant stylized one. All of these options are available in the inserter.
You can change the amount of columns in your galleries by dragging a slider in the block inspector in the sidebar.
If you combine the new wide and full-wide alignments with galleries, you can create a very media rich layout, very quickly:
Sure, the full-wide image can be pretty big. But sometimes the image is worth it.
The above is a gallery with just two images. It’s an easier way to create visually appealing layouts, without having to deal with floats. You can also easily convert the gallery back to individual images again, by using the block switcher.
Any block can opt into these alignments. The embed block has them also, and is responsive out of the box:
You can build any block you like, static or dynamic, decorative or plain. Here’s a pullquote block:
If you want to learn more about how to build additional blocks, or if you are interested in helping with the project, head over to the GitHub repository.
